Watch here for updates on how to make coin rings. I'll go over the many ways to make them from start to finish.
How to Carve the Perfect Ring for Casting
Hopefully you guys find this helpful. Getting a perfectly even ring doesn’t happen on accident; there is a lot of thought and detail behind it! A special thanks to @paulbartnikdesigns for teaching me how to carve a perfect wax!

Making a Custom Ring from Old Jewelry
Просмотров 79814 дней назад
Making a ring using jewelry with sentimental value always is an honor for me. It really makes me think about the things that really matter in life: The relationships we have with the other people around us make up the most vital part of all our lives. Getting to be a small part of that next chapter is just a great feeling.

Stunning
Wow...beautiful.💪
Exelente maestro, saludo argentino!
I tried to make a silver dollar coin ring, it started okay but seemed to not want to fold after the 3 rd heating. The first one broke and this one is getting hard. If the silver dollar came from Temu will that make a difference. As I want to make a spinnner similar to the one you made. Thank you Ed
Temu is definitely your problem. They are fake and they means it’s cast. You can’t fold a cast coin. They have to be a real coin that has been extruded and struck to get the metal grain pattern that will allow it to fold.
@@CoinRingsfromTheMint Thought so and I thank you for getting back to me so quickly. Ed
I'm brother, I'm just start to prepare tools ya. It's very hard to get ya😩🇲🇾
Right on!
I really love the detaining on the edges! Next level💕
Thanks!
Can you make me 1?
Just curious. So laws no longer apply, do not apply in this particular situation, or are not enforced when it comes to intentionally defacing coins?
It’s not illegal to alter a coin without fraudulent intent
That's amazing, such craftsmanship 👌
Is it a special wax?
It’s a jewelry carving wax. I get it at Rio grande.
I was hoping for an in depth video for this. Thank you. Also, I've seen you make these types of rings with the top flat. Is that a style that's becoming more popular and more people asking for that type?
Thanks! I’ve been meaning to make this video for a while. I don’t think they are getting more popular really. I personally really like them and because of that, my enthusiasm for them wears off when I’m designing with people :)
@@CoinRingsfromTheMint Very cool! Love everything you make and your work continues to fascinate me.
Surely this is a troll with a fake although still silver “coin”.
Nope I make them all the time! I’m going to use them all if I can :)
@@CoinRingsfromTheMintI mean I get your side of things, but as a flat business sense you’re losing money destroying that. Even the worst coin with a CC mark is worth many many of your rings. Sell those & buy common dates dude. If for nothing else out of respect for the coin collectors that hunt those for years. There’s all kinds with plenty stock to do this without literally ruining what’s already one of the grails of coins. I’m not knocking your grind at all, but this is just being an ass. A cc coin doesn’t make any better of a ring than a P, D or S that’s not a key date coin.
@@CornPopsDood I appreciate your respect, but you have to understand people want those rare coins as rings. And they are charged for the coin. It’s just silver to me, it all bends the same and has added provenance.
Got a real 10x loupe.
Yep! I find myself leaving it and losing it and now I have it all the time I’m never searching for it when I’m sharpening gravers :)
Awesome Instructional Video! I can’t wait to see the finished ring 😊
Thanks JT! You should carve one and send it to me to cast for you!!
We need more of your content. Educational and calm entertainment
Thank you! I’ll keep it coming :)
👏👏👏👏
Thats a jewelers Loupe. A very nice one, lol
This is sick!!!
Thanks! I’ve noticed it gets noticed a lot when I’m wearing it.
Just Beautiful😊❤
Thank you! 😊
Now would you look at that 😗👏
want!!
I loved the ring when it had only the centre stone.❤
WOW, that turned out beautifully. The halo accents the large stone very well without being overwhelming. It's a great look for a large stone.
Thanks I appreciate it! I totally agree too. A well matched halo really adds to the center stone.
Can u write a description of your tools and q Where we can purchase them?
I made a tool list video a few years ago. Check out my older videos and you’ll see it.
Fantástico. Parabéns.
❤️🫶❤️
Very nice
Awesome
Красота 👍
Mf I gotta step my game up way up
Bro how old are you
I’m in my early 40s :)
Wow!!!
I used the tear drop mallet on my first ring and it put a mark on the edge that is still there
Wow that’s a hard mallet! I use a rawhide mallet more. They don’t do that
beautiful work, any Canadian coins you work with.? maybe older Nickels?
Hi skyler hope things are good for you .. Just wondering if you could share a tip on how to remove the details of the inside ring ? Looking to do some inside ring engraving but with a dremmel and different sand paper grits is a very slow process ,,, Do you know a better quicker way ? Big thanks in advance
A drum sander with a dremmel is the best way. I use a big cylinder bur that I got from Rio to start. Then I move to a drum sander attachment
Wow very nice Skyler. A far cry from coin rings but your training in jewelry design some years ago sure is paying off.
Ive been really loving some of the new projects lately!
What's the best kind of solder to use on coins?
I use silver solder wire or sheet. You can get it from Rio grande online
So beautiful I'm going to try and make one but I got to get a lathe you make it look so easy but I no that comes with time
It takes a bit of practice for sure but it’s a lot of fun with the doors a lathe unlocks
It is always a pleasure to see your work, the ring turned out beautifully!
Thanks I appreciate that! It is really fun to share :)

Beautiful just beautiful!
Thank you so much!
@@CoinRingsfromTheMint you deserve it, everything you make these days is just stunning! Huge step up from coin rings, not that they weren’t cool haha.
How do you set the stones so they don't fall out?
I cut little prongs that get beaded over the stones. Each one has 4 of them.
beautiful piece
Many thanks!
WOOOW 😮🤩 That was awesome 👌🏻💍
I appreciate it!
Tabem faço cm moeda mas não nesse nível parabéns lindo de mais
I appreciate it!
Such an intriguing process. How did you learn to make rings? I would love to learn
Thanks! I started on my own watching RUclips videos and then got connected with a great jewelry school in Portland
@@CoinRingsfromTheMint awesome! Thanks for the information. Love your vids!
It's an amazing ring
Much appreciated!
I enjoy all your videos I got into making coin rings and from watching your videos helped me so so much thank you
That is awesome!
Once I saw your Jesus sign I deleted your video
Q: what do you think about using a stone tumbler (polisher) to clean annealed rings? Thanks in advance for your opinion.
I used to do that when I first started too. But cleaning it with a pickle solution is quicker and not abrasive like a tumbler is.
